Newly Discovered Dead Sea Scroll Fragments Unearthed

Israeli scientists recently discovered fragments of the rare Dead Sea Scrolls and other relics, calling it a “historic discovery” in the caves of Israel.

Contained in the findings are:

  • Fragments written about a Jewish rebellion in Rome about 1,900 years ago.

  • Greek text from Zechariah and Nahum.

  • Writing style indicates the fragments date to the first century CE.

The fragments were located in the "Cave of Horrors," named because forty skeletons were also located there during a 1960's archeological dig.

The new fragments were discovered by the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) and are under their supervision and care.
